Kick Imposter Syndrome in 2021

Welcome to 2021! Sorry for the long hiatus in the mailing list. With 2020 going the way that it did, I had to put the daily emails on the back burner for a while. But I'm back now and looking forward to spending more time in your inbox (if you'll have me)

I've had some time during the last months to refine my ideas around a few things:

1. What specific factors contribute to the imposter syndrome that is so prevalent in bootcamp grads, even or especially those who have gotten their first job?
2. What are the most important skills and qualities for an early-career engineer to cultivate in order to succeed in their careers?
3. Specifically how can focusing on those skills help to mitigate the imposter syndrome?

I'm going to spend the next week or so exploring these topics, but the short answer is this: You're not an imposter, you're a beginner. Hone your ability to decompose and solve complex problems, and you'll be more confident in your ability to acquire knowledge as necessary.

Easy in theory. Harder in practice. More to come tomorrow.
